Easy Hair Tie Cutie #1
This is a quick little “make” that you can take wherever you go!
Embellish you plain elastic ties to accessorize your space buns, your pigtails, or your messy buns with bits of yarn. Don’t stop at hairstyles, use them to tie up oversized t-shirts, tie back curtains, hold a tea towel, or you can also give it a holiday color scheme and use them for napkin holders!

Materials Needed – Stretchy hair ties in a normal size.
Let’s begin…
Make a slip knot in your yarn
Choose your hair tie and bring your slip knot up through the center of hair tie…
Set up the hair tie!
o Grasp your working yarn, from the outside of the hair tie, yo and pull through slip knot (Do NOT count as first sc)
o *Reach through inside of hair tie and yo, pull up enough slack to meet first sc, yo outside of hair tie and pull through both loops on hook* Repeat from * around until you have 42 stitches on your hair tie.
o Join with slst into beginning sc and weave in tail.
Rnd 1 – chains of bumps
o *Ch4, skip 2 stitches, slst into next st; repeat from * around until last slst meets first beg chain. (14 bumps)
o 2 slst into first ch 4 space
Rnd 2 – make some shells
o Ch 1 = counts as sc, (into NEXT ch 4 space; 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc),
o *sc into NEXT ch 4 space, repeat ( ) from line above*
Repeat from * to * around (7 shells made)
o Slst into beginning ch 1
Rnd 3 – more shells and bars
o Slst into next 2 stiches
o Into ch 2 space; 2 slst, (optional color change here) 1sc, ch 3 (counts as last dc in pattern at end of round)
o Turn work
o *Into NEXT sc (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) shell made, 3 dc into NEXT ch 2 space*
o Repeat from * to * around until before last 3 dc, complete ONLY 2 dc next to beginning ch 3
o Join with slst in 3rd ch of beg ch 3 (7 shells & 7 bar sets)
o Pull through and break yarn at approximately 4” and weave ends!
o Go make another!
